On January 28, the first The Horse International Conference in 2025 took place. The Horse (the-horse.education) is an initiative for collaborative online international learning (COIL). Secondary and vocational students from the partner institutions (the-horse.education) in India, Indonesia, Dubai, and Switzerland pitched their innovative projects, shared cultural insights, and reflected on their collaborative experiences. The online event ran smoothly, with all planned teams presenting their ideas in a creative and engaging manner. The conference was not just a showcase of student projects but also a reflection of global teamwork and intercultural exchange.

Each team presented their project with enthusiasm, sharing insights into sustainability, inclusivity, technology, and cultural heritage. Below is a short overview, including the names of presenters and contributing team members.

Ecobricks and Sustainable Building Materials (IN)

This business idea aims to bring Indonesian-Japanese fusion cuisine to customers using eco-friendly packaging. [1:12:01]

Restoring Languages and Cultures (IN)
This project worked on researching and creating awareness about endangered languages and cultural traditions around the world. [1:36:06]

This project introduced a website designed as a guide to explore Universitas Indonesia’s diverse culinary offerings. [1:22:09]

Evaluating and Defining Education (UAE)
This project analyzed whether students align with the expectations of the education system, exploring their awareness of institutional guidelines and their relevance to students’ needs. [1:29:39]

This project analyzed urban mobility challenges in Zurich and surroundings, and proposed solutions to enhance public transportation efficiency. [1:17:25]

This project focused ocused on wise investment strategies to advance Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), promoting financial growth and sustainability within the sector. [1:43:56]

Reflections and Takeaways

The conference provided a valuable opportunity for students to pitch their work for the first time in front of an International audience.
Some key takeaways included:

  • Cross-cultural teamwork enriches projects by bringing in diverse perspectives and solutions.
  • Challenges are part of the journey—teams faced obstacles but overcame them with resilience and creativity.
  • Presentation skills and concise communication are essential, and students reflected on how preparing for the pitch enhanced their ability to articulate ideas.
  • Sustainability and inclusivity remain central themes, with numerous projects focusing on making a positive social and environmental impact.
